There are many different ways you can go in regard to designing a website. The medium is constantly changing and so are the techniques. Not every project is exactly the same, so processes should be modified to meet specific project needs. However, what differs in our approach to web design is that we craft solutions to fit your needs.

In today’s world there are a lot of cheap solutions for getting a website, there are templates, there is your friend who can slap together a website, there are companies who can build you a site for several hundred dollars. Well, you get what you pay for. Not that you need to break the bank in getting a website built, but you should invest some money in it so it is done professionally because your website is the 24/7 marketer for your business.

Below is an outline of Key Theory’s five core processes to design a website:

Discovery

This process involves research, discovery and setting goals and objectives. We want to determine what you are aiming to achieve, who your target market is, what is your competitive advantage, what message are you trying to communicate. We need to define your target before we can hit it.

  • Research
  • Discover
  • Plan
  • Clarify

Strategic Planning

Once we have an idea of where we want to go, we brainstorm and research the available opportunities to utilize, then work to develop a strategy to achieve set goals.  The discovery and strategic planning process are vital parts of a well developed website that fits in with your marketing plan. This is a process a lot of web designers skip.

  • Strategy Development
  • Plan for content with SEO considerations
  • Define Content Hierarchy
  • Structure Architecture

Design

The design of a website is really important. If your company has existing branding (logo, fonts, colors etc…) then we will use your branding as a guide to design your site. If not, we will work to develop a look and feel that best fits your company, target audience and communicates your message. The usability of a website is also an important consideration. We work to make sure that people can easily use your site and find what they are looking for without having to guess or search.

  • Wireframes
  • Design layout comps
  • Review & Refine
  • Optimize Graphics

Development & Production

Once your site has been carefully planned out and designed, the hard work is done and then it’s time to execute the production of the site. We have a vast knowledge of web design and development techniques that can make your project come to life. Our process is thorough and assures a quality product that can meet its objectives, a scalable project that you can grow through time, and will be viewable by most audiences.

  • Pre-Production / Hosting Configurations
  • Production / Site Development
  • Post Production / Project Clean up and Archive
  • Quality Assurance / Testing

Results & Analysis

After your project is complete we can help review and analyze your site and web traffic statistics (Analytics) to monitor the success of the site and identify opportunities that will continue to improve your performance.

  • Analytics Installation
  • Define Goals / Funnels
  • Review Results
  • Analyze

This overview doesn’t hit every step of our process but gives you and idea of the thorough approach we put into the projects that we take on.  For more information or to get started on your website design project, contact me at kenny@keytheory.com.
